My Trip To Jamaica Summed Up in 44 Words…Thank You Social Media!
This past weekend I traveled to Jamaica with Mike Michalowicz who is the author of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. We were invited down to do a presentation on entrepreneurship for the Jamaican community at UWI.
Here is his motivating and inspiring post about why he thinks Jamaica will lead the world in The Next Generation of Entrepreneurship.

After the event that we did at UWI, I received this friend request from one of the participants in the audience, and felt it pretty much summed up our reason for being there…as we touched many lives in such a positive way that day.
As one participant of the crowd put it…

That response alone, taken from the friend request that Gale sent me let us (Mike and I) know that time spent in Jamaica was time well spent!
Furthermore, the experience of seeing and experiencing the city of Kingston first hand was truly incredible as I totally got the tried and true cultural experience most people could only dream of having when visiting a foreign country.
The reason I had the opportunity to go on this amazing trip is because of my abilities to meet and build relationships with an amazing person through the powerful medium of facebook.
In my next post I will describe in detail how this trip all came to be and further share with you how I was able to make this trip to Jamaica happen using social media! It will be a long post so be ready!

Scott, I am truly happy to have had you at my house in Jamaica, shown you the real Jamaica, introduced you to some great people and most importantly, inspire 60+ people in the audience at our event.
I can’t wait to see your post on how the trip came together. The power of facebook is crazy.

That is awesome Scott. If you ever go back, you definitely need to visit Dunn’s River Falls. It is truly an awesome sight to behold.
As for Facebook, agreed…powerful Juju. So is MySpace and if you can crosslink them…social network nirvana.

As an international Jamaican I have often considered some of my beloved country’s finest ambassadors to be open-minded visitors such as yourself.
The positives that you enjoyed during your visit, have always been commonplace in Jamaica. Spreading your entrepreneurial flair via your conference is not only noble, but is also a significant investment in the development of the entrepreneurial capital base of Jamaica. As a result several more people have not only been infused with your enthusiasim but have also now got a better sense of direction in which to channel their ambition.
May God bless you with all your wishes in life ten times over.
Bless, One Love.

Scott, my apologies for just getting the chance to reply to your blog. It is very heart warming that you value my little note. I meant every word. When you shared your story about how you met Mike coupled with the Macy’s vs. TPE scenario and your ultimate decision – cemented the belief that life indeed can be great by building and forging relationships. You dared to be different and pursued the path to lead to even greater rewards. Continue to blaze the trail, inspire folks and may the power of networking effectively continue to shine.
